Peace Walk in collaboration with STEP, Islamabad

The International Day of persons with disabilities observed on December 3 across the world, besides to mark the day, Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) organized a walk at Iqra University.

Adviser to Prime Minister for Human Rights Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar graced the occasion as the chief guest. The participants included some 500 600 persons with disabilities, people from all spheres of society, representatives of government, international development organizations, representatives of UN agencies, etc. In their speeches, UNESCO & UNICEF’s representatives urged the communities in Pakistan to show solidarity and support towards the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of their political, social, economic and cultural lives.



Youth for Peace, in collaboration with STEP, UNESCO, Telenor Pakistan, and Ministry of Social Welfare & Special Education, organized Peace Walk to observe "International Day of Persons with Disabilities".

Peace Walk in collaboration with Milestone, Lahore

An NGO in Lahore (Milestone, Lahore) working for the rights of persons with Disabilities, in collaboration with UNESCO Islamabad organized a walk in Lahore. The walk started from the Cavalry Bridge to Firdous Market and back. An awareness seminar was also organized at Cavalry Ground. About 300 persons with disabilities along with many representatives from INGOs, NGOs participated. Ms. Kathrine A. Kiser from US Consulate and Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Punjab Welfare and Disabled Persons, Lahore, were the Chief Guest at the occasion.
